About the event

With this event being held outside, it will be “weather pending”. We will keep an eye on the forecast and if anything changes, we will let you know!

Dress Code:  Modest dress code is required at all Pow Wows. Nice jeans (no holes) and a jacket (if it looks like it will be chilly) are recommended. Please refer to the Dress Code details in your email communication!

“Pow Wow Etiquette” information has been provided by our Student Ambassador Jackson Burghart and his mom, Stephanie, they are members of the Kiowa tribe. Jackson serves on the Indigenous Voices Youth Council of the Native American Student Services (NASS) which is the group organizing the Pow Wow.

Please take a few minutes to review as it provides great insight into the traditions and expectations for guests attending any Pow Wow.

The Pow Wow is being held outside at Taft Stadium on the field, 2501 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.  Please bring a folding lawn chair as we will plan to sit on the field closer to the Pow Wow ‘arena’. Please make sure your chair has good support on the legs so it does not dig into the turf.

As we learned last year, there are always a few special recognition dances honoring specific individuals. During these dances, it is customary to make a donation honoring the individual by placing a dollar 'in the hat' as they dance by you. This is not mandatory or required, but it provides a fun way to be involved and participate - so bring some dollar bills if you would like! They will also have vendors selling handmade items if you are interested in shopping.
